Emma Hardy MP Secures Commitment to Improve Walkways at Hull Paragon Bus Station

Emma Hardy MP has welcomed Hull City Council’s commitment to improving pedestrian access at Hull Paragon Interchange following her intervention on behalf of local residents.

After receiving complaints from constituents about congestion and difficulties in navigating the station while waiting for buses, Emma wrote to Hull City Council urging action to resolve the issue. In response, Hull City Council has now confirmed plans to introduce clear walkways within the bus concourse area.

Hull City Council stated that while TransPennine Express (TPE) is responsible for managing the Paragon Interchange, they have been working closely with TPE and the Public Transport Accessibility Forum to develop a solution. As part of these efforts, the Council is using funding from the Bus Service Improvement Grant to implement a system of floor markings that will establish designated queuing areas while maintaining clear pedestrian walkways.

Emma Hardy MP said: “I am pleased that Hull City Council has listened to the concerns of local people and is taking steps to improve access and reduce congestion at Hull Paragon Bus Station.

“These changes will make it easier for passengers to move through the the station, ensuring a safer and more accessible experience for everyone.

“I will continue to monitor progress and push for improvements to our public transport infrastructure.”

The project includes marked-out disabled bays near each bus bay door and a tactile walkway along the entire length of the bus boarding bays, from Bay 1 to Bay 37. The Council aims to finalise the designs by early summer, with the improvements completed by the end of the year.

Emma Hardy MP has said she remains committed to ensuring public transport in Hull is as safe, accessible, and efficient as possible for all passengers.
